Medical Laboratory Student Assistant (Paid Volunteer), Years 2-4
Rate: 30 THB/hour, up to 8 hours/day
Trained, supervised, and evaluated by clinic supervisors, faculty, and medical technologists to assist and temporarily perform medical laboratory duties. Responsibilities included:
1. Served as the first point of contact for patients, providing explanations and guidance on disease conditions, test requirements, benefits, expected outcomes, and basic health counseling
2. Received and processed laboratory specimens from the University Clinic
3. Authorized and trusted to perform phlebotomy and provide training and guidance to fellow medical technology students on blood collection techniques
4. Conducted laboratory analyses, including CBC, FBS, Lipid Profile, Liver Function Test, Kidney Function Test, Urinalysis, Urine Pregnancy Test, Blood Smear, gram stain, and HBV-Ag, and coordinated with external laboratories for specialized tests; reported results for verification by certified medical technologists
5. Prepared and performed IQC for all assays, troubleshot initial issues, plotted data in Excel, and calculated Six Sigma metrics quarterly to assess quality
6. Assisted clinic supervisors and medical technologists in organizing annual HBV vaccination campaigns for students, including project announcements, appointment scheduling, document management, site organization, patient flow, health screening, and ensuring safety and comfort
7. Managed documentation of student working hours for both volunteer and paid work
8. Participated in training sessions and stayed updated on the latest medical knowledge and clinic protocols
