Job Description

  • During my internship, I learned and developed professional skills in various areas through hands-on practice under the supervision of public health officials. The main responsibilities included:
  • 1. Management of public health information systems
  • I was assigned to handle the health record accumulation and data entry tasks using information system programs such as JHCIS or HosXP.
  • 2. Performing nursing procedures and services
  • I practiced basic nursing skills according to sterile technique principles to ensure the safety of service recipients, including:
  • • Injection: Administering intramuscular (IM) injections.
  • • Wound care: Assessing wound characteristics and selecting appropriate materials for wound care for fresh wounds, infected wounds, and chronic wounds.
  • • Suture removal: Evaluating the readiness for wound healing before proceeding with suture removal and providing self-care advice post-removal.
  • 3. Family planning and reproductive health services
  • I learned to provide counseling on family planning, particularly the technique for calculating the timing of Depo-Provera injections, ensuring accurate scheduling every 12 weeks, as well as monitoring and observing side effects post-injection for optimal pregnancy prevention effectiveness.
  • 4. Consumer protection in public health
  • I participated in field assessments of establishments and shops within the community to check the safety of health products, such as verifying expiration dates, observing FDA symbols on food and cosmetic labels, and monitoring hazardous or illegal products in the local area to foster confidence and good hygiene among community members.
  • This internship helped me understand the role of primary public health in terms of medical treatment, disease prevention, and consumer rights protection, which are essential foundations for building sustainable health strength within the community.
