  • Position Summary The Strategic Communications & Community Engagement Manager is a school-based communications role responsible for strengthening internal alignment, parent communication, and community engagement at SBS Rangsit International Bilingual School. This role reports directly to the Head of School, with a dotted-line relationship to the Chief Brand Strategist of AOI to ensure alignment with wider institutional positioning, brand standards, and strategic communications priorities.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of School, Principals, teachers, school management, admissions, parent representatives, students, photographers, graphic designers, and AOI brand and marketing teams to build a strong and consistent pipeline of meaningful school communications. This is not a messenger role at the end of the pipeline. The successful candidate must be able to work upstream with school leadership, understand strategic priorities, ask thoughtful questions, extract meaning from complexity, shape key messages, influence communication effectiveness, and create materials that are clear, elegant, succinct, and strategically useful. The role is primarily focused on internal school communications, leadership alignment, parent communication, and parent community engagement. However, some materials and school highlights may also be leveraged for external marketing, admissions, website, PR, or brand storytelling in collaboration with AOI brand and marketing teams.
  • Role Purpose The purpose of this role is to make the life, learning, values, and strategic direction of SBS Rangsit more visible, more understandable, and more meaningful to teachers, school management, parents, parent representatives, and the wider school community. The role will help SBS Rangsit communicate with greater clarity, warmth, consistency, and confidence, reinforcing the school’s academic quality, bilingual identity, student experience, community spirit, and aspiration to be a school with genuine soul. The candidate must be able to find the “gold” inside a busy school environment and turn scattered information into focused, persuasive, visually clear communications.
  • 1. Strategic Communications Leadership Work closely with the Head of School and Principals to shape and deliver a proactive communications strategy for SBS Rangsit. Responsibilities include: Translating school strategy into clear internal, parent-facing, and community-facing messages Identifying key communication priorities for each term Building a strong pipeline of communications content that reinforces strategic objectives Identifying communication gaps, risks, and missed opportunities Advising on message clarity, timing, tone, audience, and channel selection Ensuring communications are proactive, not merely reactive Helping leadership make the school’s strengths, learning culture, and community life more visible Ensuring communications support parent trust, staff alignment, retention, admissions confidence, and school reputation
  • 2. Advisory and Coaching Support for School Leadership Act as a trusted communications partner to the Head of School, Principals, and school management team. This includes: Supporting leadership communications to staff, parents, and the parent community Preparing key messages, talking points, scripts, presentations, FAQs, and briefing notes Coaching or advising school leaders on communication effectiveness where appropriate Helping leaders communicate with clarity, warmth, confidence, and strategic intent Anticipating parent questions, concerns, and possible misunderstandings Respectfully challenging unclear or cluttered messaging Helping leaders turn complex academic or operational updates into parent-friendly communication The candidate must have the confidence and judgement to influence senior stakeholders with tact and professionalism.
  • 3. Internal Alignment Communications Create communications materials that help align internal stakeholders, including teachers, academic teams, school management, and operational teams. This includes: Internal alignment presentations Staff briefing decks School strategy communication materials Talking points for teachers and leaders Internal updates on academic, pastoral, operational, or community priorities Communication toolkits for departments, phases, or year groups Materials that help staff understand and consistently communicate the school’s direction The goal is to ensure staff are not only informed, but aligned, confident, and able to reinforce key school messages in their own interactions with parents and students.
  • 4. Parent and Parent Community Communications Develop clear, engaging, bilingual communications for parents and the parent community. This includes: Parent presentations Parent representative briefing materials Parent update messages Curriculum and academic explainers Community engagement communications Video blog scripts and concepts Short-form parent communication formats Parent meeting materials FAQs and talking points for recurring parent concerns The role should help SBS Rangsit move away from over-reliance on long emails and newsletters by creating more accessible, visual, video-led, and relationship-based communication formats.
  • 5. Schoolwide Content Pipeline and Storytelling Proactively identify and develop meaningful stories from across the school. Content areas may include: Academic learning and curriculum development Bilingual learning in action Early Years, Primary, and Secondary highlights Classroom practice and learning snapshots Student achievements and student spotlights Sports, ECAs, arts, music, performances, competitions, trips, and events Academic results, assessment progress, and learning milestones where appropriate Teacher practice and professional learning Parent community engagement School values, culture, and community life The role should help SBS Rangsit move from simply reporting activities to communicating meaning: what students are learning, why it matters, and how it reflects the school’s values and strategic direction.
  • 6. Strategic Content Extraction: From Clutter to Clarity The successful candidate must be able to extract clarity from complexity. This includes: Listening to long or complex discussions and identifying the key message Turning raw updates from teachers or leaders into clear communication points Extracting parent-relevant meaning from academic, operational, or event-based information Identifying which details matter and which can be removed Reframing activity updates into strategic stories Creating concise summaries, talking points, slides, captions, scripts, and parent messages Helping leaders and teachers communicate with more focus and impact The candidate must be able to extrapolate, synthesise, and extract the strongest ideas from cluttered information.

  • 9. Creative Project Management and Deadline Control Manage communications projects from concept to completion. This includes: Creating project briefs for photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and internal contributors Managing deadlines across multiple stakeholders Following up with teachers, leaders, designers, and content contributors Maintaining a communications calendar and production tracker Coordinating approvals with the Head of School, Principals, and AOI brand team where needed Ensuring materials are delivered on time and to the required standard Keeping communications simple, timely, accurate, and strategically focused The candidate must be able to manage creative work with discipline, clarity, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities include: Supporting regular communication with parent representatives Understanding parent questions, concerns, interests, and feedback Helping parent representatives become constructive communication partners Preparing briefing materials for parent representative meetings Identifying opportunities to build stronger parent connection and community spirit Supporting initiatives that help families feel informed, respected, and connected to the school This role should help SBS Rangsit build a stronger sense of trust, belonging, and shared community.

However, the role will also identify school highlights that may be valuable for external communications. Responsibilities include: Flagging strong school stories for AOI brand and marketing teams Preparing internal content that may be adapted for admissions, website, PR, or social media use Ensuring school-level messaging is aligned with AOI brand direction Supporting external storytelling where the content originates from school life, student experience, academic progress, or parent community engagement Avoiding duplication with external marketing functions The role does not replace external marketing.
