Assist staff and students with work, including preparation of materials, organisation of resources and supporting practical activities within the workshop and CAD rooms.
Assist with the running of the Department, ensuring that preparation is undertaken for all lessons, workshops are checked as requested by staff, and spaces are prepared and reset ready for lessons throughout the day.
Order and prepare all teaching materials required for schemes of work, coursework, and examinations, including the cutting, preparation, and manual handling of Resistant Materials resources such as timber, metals, plastics, and sheet materials, as required for workshop use.
Audit stock, maintain accurate records, and check and store deliveries of materials in consultation with the DT (Design Technology) Subject Lead, including updating and reconciling budget records and liaising with suppliers regarding costings.
Maintain resources and equipment, including fixed and portable machinery used in Resistant Materials, carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance, and supporting Health and Safety procedures across all workshop environments.
Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment within the DT (Design Technology) workshops, liaising with the Subject Lead and the school maintenance team regarding any concerns.
Undertake appropriate training relating to techniques, machinery, health and safety, and any other areas relevant to the role.
Record and maintain documentation required for risk assessments, COSHH regulations, and the safe use of equipment and materials.
Provide technical advice and practical support to students as appropriate, particularly in relation to materials, processes, and machinery, supporting staff and students in the realisation of coursework and ambitious practical outcomes at KS3, GCSE and A level.
Support the organisation and supervision of exhibitions, displays, and the presentation of student work within the department and across the wider school.
Assist with the organisation and administration of DT (Design Technology) trips, visits, and events as required.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, as reasonably requested by the DT (Design Technology) Subject Lead and Head of Faculty.
