At Hummingbird, children are encouraged to be independent and learn through the play following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) philosophy. We also incorporate Executive Function skills into our curriculum: Executive Functions are controlled by the frontal lobe of the brain which regulates the ability to think, study, solve problems independently, get along with others, and find happiness. These skills develop most during the formative years (birth to age seven) through positive learning and are vital in bringing out the best in each unique, well-adjusted child.

Responsible

  • Food Safety: Adhering to food safety and hygiene standards to ensure meals are safe to consume for staff and students.
  • Meal Preparation: Preparing and cooking meals according to planned menus and dietary guidelines.
  • Collaborating with nutritionists or school nutritionist to create nutritious, balanced, and appealing menus.
  • Inventory Management: Monitoring supplies, managing stock levels, and placing orders for ingredients and kitchen essentials.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Keeping the kitchen and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order. Dietary Accommodations: Catering to special dietary needs, including allergies, religious restrictions, and other specific requirements.
  • Budget Management: Ensuring meal preparation stays within the allocated budget while maintaining quality.
  • Serving Meals: Coordinating the distribution of meals to students in a timely and orderly manner.
  • Compliance: Following school policies, local regulations, and health guidelines related to school food services.
  • Safeguarding Practices: Being vigilant in identifying and addressing any safeguarding concerns, such as ensuring the safety and welfare of students during meal service.
